The Center for Rights of Parents with Disabilities started as a program of the Colorado Cross-Disability Coalition in 2004. While at CCDC, Carrie Ann Lucas was the program director, and CCDC provided invaluable support in developing the program. The program was initially funded by an Equal Justice Works fellowship which provided funding for our first two years, and later funded through legal fees and grants.
Initially called The Center for Rights of Parents with Disabilities, Disabled Parents Rights was established as an independent organization in April 2011. In 2016 we stopped providing direct representation to new clients in order to focus on policy, and information and referral.
